BE Authentic, Warren Weirsbe
Well done! This is a great resource book. The commentary is easy to read and understand. Often commentaries are intimidating to the average person, filled with theology and difficult to understand ideas. This one is just the opposite. In fact I found it enjoyable to read. This would be an excellent resource for the scholar, pastor, sunday school teacher or parent - anyone seeking to breakdown the word of God in an easy to understand, applicable way. I used this commentary to teach the story of Jacab and Esau to my children, ages 8 and 6. during our bible time at home school. They also enjoyed the reading of this book and seemed to have a better understanding of the story than they had before. I would reccommend this book and the entire series for anyone wanting a sound commentary that is easy to read.

Sense and Sensibility, Insight Edition
Sense and Sensibility
I have always loved this book even as a child. However, the commentary and insights provided in this edition are a welcomed addition. I enjoyed reading the additional things, this made the story even more alive. I can’t wait to use it in my home school classroom – in fact I would recommend it to the public schools and private schools as well. In the back of the book are excellent discussion questions to prompt writing and thinking. I highly recommend this edition!
Thank you so much to Bethany House for the review copy.

I Wish You Enough
I wish You Enough by Bob Perks
This is a wonderful little gift book or personal inspiration book. The books is based on a small poem and provides great spiritual insight and scripture. I loved how it showed that the tough things in life make all the blessings in life larger and brighter. How often in our Christian walks and daily lives we seem to overlook the small miracles and blessing that God is sending our ways. In the midst of storms, trials, temptations, those cloudy days of Christianity when we feel alone and confounded – A mighty God is there speaking to us. We are all too often distracted by our circumstance to see the beauty that God is creating around us, through us and in us. What an eye-opening little treasure! It would make a great gift for someone that is a new Christian or close friend, someone starting a new season in life or someone walking a lonely seemingly endless valley. This is an excellent book.

Beyond the Final Score; Tom Osborne
Beyond the Final Score: Tom Osborne
This is a truly enlightening autobiography of a great football coach. If you are an Osborne fan from his coaching days you may find it interesting to see what he has done since then. His influence as a congressman and his experience there is very interesting. The book is laced with the theme of good character and good work ethics being driven from a strong faith in God. I never before realized the time and effort or personal heart put into being a congressman. God has moved a man of integrity from the school room, to a professional athlete, to coaching, through the congress, back to the classroom and to an administrator. Not only has he filled the public roles afore mentioned he has successfully filled the role as husband, father, friend and mentor. Sometimes we take for granted our athletic heros, never looking closely at their lives, simply seeing them as they are portrayed on television. Through this book you are invited into the personal space of a truly influential man of character that is led by a mighty God to accomplish many roles and impact countless lives. I highly recommend this book to any sports enthusiast.

The Language of Sex, Gary Smalley & Ted Cunningham
The Language of Sex by Gary Smalley and Ted Cunningham
This book is in a very easy to read format. The main point is the development of communication, trust, and security in your marriage relationship. I found through reading it that I became convicted of areas in my marriage relationship and parent to child relationships that needed work. It calls you to do much self evaluation and prayer. As I read I was surprised out how this book for marriage held so many truths that were applicable across the table to all relationships in our lives. I began to realize the impact of our childhood relationships with parents on our future relationship with our spouse. This caused me to immediately enter into prayer about what messages about love, life, self-image, security, true intimacy and , yes even sex and body image I was sending to my four young children. It has always been my prayer that my marriage be reflect ion of God in every aspect and that my children grow to be Godly spouses and to marry Godly mates. This book caused me to take a deep look at my closest relationships and evaluate whether or not I had truly allowed the God of Love and security to have complete control of these relationships. I wish I had read this book earlier on in my marriage. Although I am blessed beyond measure with a Godly husband I realize that we are ALL a work in progress and there is always room for improvement. I better understand the areas I need to look at and address. This book would be helpful to the Pastor who is counseling engaged couples, to the couple that is in engaged, to the newly-wed and that married couple alike. The candid self-disclosure of both authors and the use of God’s living word (and prayer on your part) make this book great. I applaud both authors for being genuine in their disclosures and for seeking to rightly divide the Word of God. I highly recommend this book to those interested in a better relationship all around with their spouse.

As Long As We Both Shall Live
Wow! Dr. Smalley has done an excellent job with co-uthor Ted Cunningham in laying out the gaps between ones expectation and un,met expectations in marraige. This book should be required reading for engaged couples. It is also beneficial to married couples as well. The book does an excellent job of exposing the dangers of unmet expectations. It also causes people to look deeply at the affect of your childhood experiences and how they have influenced you as an adult. Alll the points are thoroughly backed up with scriptural references and brought to life by the candidness of Ted and Dr. Smalley. The illustrations clearly demonstrate scripture in practice and how applicable these scriptures are in ones daily walk with your spouse. I would thoroughly recommend this book to all couples if you want to truly understand the impact our expectations have on our married lives and how to reconcile the unmet expectations we face. The book is very easy to read. At times I was amazed at how the applications and illustrations so closely mirrored some of the seasons of my married life. This can truly be a blessing for couples who whoose to reach for a closer walk with Christ and their mate. Again, wow.
