Deliver Us From Evil, Don Basham

My husband had this book in seminary...I chose it because of the title and the person who wrote the forward - Neil T. Anderson. I did not know what to expect but what I found was a book that is insightful, honest and very down to earth. I come from a very conservative baptist background. I never learned much about the Holy Spirit, demons, or angels. The spirit world was reserved for the charismatic. However, when you begin to search the scriptures and pray for God's leading in your life you quickly become aware that the enemy does not play nice. This book is not a "how to" manual on deliverance. More so it is a very real look at an aspect of our lives that most people would rather remain blind to. Basham tells a story of a man not looking for extraordinary things, of a man content to the simple life of religious mundane. He opens his life up for others to see. This is a man who was pushed into a ministry that he felt very uncomfortable delving into. In this book Basham tells about the mistakes and victories of this ministry and in doing so allows the reader to "learn" from his mistakes. He gives the basics of how to have a victory in the area of spiritual battle. Excellent read.
